There's no doubt that Metal Slug is one of the most beloved run-and-gun franchises in gaming history, and if you fancy either reliving some classics or discovering them for the first time, they're part of a massive sale on Xbox right now.
Nine Metal Slug titles are discounted in all, spanning six ACA NEOGEO releases, two Xbox 360 backwards compatible titles, and one tower defense game from 2024 in the form of Metal Slug Attack Reloaded.

In terms of the reviews, we've noticed that a few of these seem to fare better than others with players on the Xbox Store — ACA NEOGEO Metal Slug 2 and 4, for example, have a few grumbles about slowdown and glitches, whereas the likes of ACA NEOGEO Metal Slug 1 and 3 seem to be considered generally better ports.
I can't personally say I've ever played Metal Slug on an Xbox console before (aside from Metal Slug Tactics on Xbox Game Pass, which unfortunately isn't part of this sale), but at these prices, it feels like a no-brainer to add one or two to the library.
