Of all the games we expected to get the free upgrade treatment for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, 2017's Hello Neighbor was not one of them! Nevertheless, this new "Next-Gen Update" sounds like a pretty meaty overhaul.
As detailed on social media, Hello Neighbor is now said to run at 60FPS, complete with "4K & HDR support for stunning visuals", improved lighting, shadows and reflections, higher resolution textures and enhanced post-processing.
We assume most of these features are on the Xbox Series S version, but no specifics are provided about what's different between the Series X and Series S upgrades.
There are also some examples of these improvements on the Hello Neighbor Twitter/X account, which admittedly don't look that impressive at first glance, but hey - free is free, and we appreciate the commitment to updating a game that's almost 10 years old now!
Here's an example:
Anyway, if you want to go and try this for yourself, it's apparently available for both digital and physical owners of Hello Neighbor, so all you need to do is own the game in order to access it.
Let us know how you get on - we're interested to see how much of a difference it makes!
