Just over a week ago, it was quietly revealed that a Thomas the Tank Engine game would be "coming soon" to Xbox consoles, and the reaction has been significant from fans over on the official Xbox YouTube channel.
The game is specifically called "Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor", and it's being made by the people behind the popular Train Sim World titles (Dovetail Games). It'll feature a Story Mode where you'll need to complete tasks as Thomas & Friends characters, a Timetable Mode where you can "drive a day in the life of that character on the Island of Sodor", a restriction-free Explore Mode, and a Shunting Mode where you take on Troublesome Trucks.
At the time of writing, Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor has just passed 150,000 views on the official Xbox YouTube channel, which is the most of any video on the channel in February so far. People are clearly hyped for this one!
"As a 34yr adult I can easily say this is the most excited a video game trailer has made me in a very long time."
"You can laugh but this was my childhood. The song actually brought out a smile."
"Outside I am as calm as a cucumber. INSIDE I'M LAUGHING LIKE A MANIAC!!!!!"
"The Thomas trailer has more views already than than whole player base of BLACK OPS 7"
Honestly, we think this looks like a fun, chill game to check out on Xbox when it pulls into the platform later this year, and Dovetail Games knows how to make a good train sim — there's excellent pedigree going into this one!
Look out for a release date in the near future, and we'll share more details on the game down below.
Join Thomas and his friends on a special journey across Sodor! Hop into the cabs of North Western Railway’s classic steam team to enjoy nostalgic stories and all-new narratives right from the drivers’ seats. Explore the Wonders of Sodor – fun and magic await!

Percy chugged up alongside Thomas, grumpy as usual.
“Cheer up Percy,” Thomas chided, “the developers put their audience first and have confirmed there will be a physical copy for permanent ownership.”
Day 1 purchase for me. From the sounds of the content they plan to add. This will have something that all ages will love especially older people like myself who enjoy Thomas and friends as a kid. Crazy that it took so long to finally get something like this
"WTF happened to choo choo Charlie?!"
