Fable Likely To Be A Huge Hit On PS5 As Sony-Hosted Trailer Hits 1 Million Views

I'm interested in the game and I have a Series S and a PS5. If I were to buy it, 90% of chance of being a PS purchase.

@acmiguens I have the same set up and I'm 100% getting the PS5 version, if it was only on Xbox I would have played through on Series S but I'm glad it's on the other box as well.

Xbox is the obvious choice for me with play anywhere. Hopefully the game reviews and sells well everywhere.

To be fair, every PlayStation video gets about twice the views of Xbox, so there’s nothing surprising there — their channel has twice as many subscribers. And the people watching videos on the PlayStation channel aren’t necessarily PlayStation players, far from it. Even on this site, articles sometimes embed trailers from the PlayStation channel for games that are also available on Xbox. It’s just the default channel, not a gathering place for PlayStation fans.

@PsBoxSwitchOwner All Xbox game ports, yes. And generally speaking, all games sell more on PC. And sometimes, even certain third‑party games sell better on Xbox — like Arc Raiders. Is that clearer now?

@fatpunkslim As I have a PS5, a Switch 2 and a Series S (and don't like throwing money away), subscribing to Game Pass is out of the cards for me. I also work two jobs on PC, so gaming on PC is something I certainly don't do.

I'll definitely be buying it day one on PS5 mostly because I've only got the Series s or I'd just have played it on Gamepass.

@acmiguens “What I mean is that it’s Xbox who decides whether the game will have an optimized version for each console. Fable will almost certainly get an optimized version for the next Xbox, but on PS6 there’s no guarantee at all. Where I agree with you is that the PS6 will of course be backward compatible with PS5. But for PS4, that’s already much less certain — I wouldn’t bet on it. Sony is far less advanced than Xbox when it comes to game preservation and backward compatibility, that’s well known.

@Fishmasterflex96 That’s for sure but it has never been anywhere near as bad as people have been claiming for the past 12 years. This is a huge exaggeration aside from a few major flops like Crackdown 3, Halo Infinite’s campaign or Redfall.

I figured most Xbox fans watched the Developer Direct. I love Fable and I didn't watch the actual trailer. Also, they have a buttload more subscribers. Viewing doesn't mean buying. If people own both consoles, like me, the Xbox version seems like the smarter buy with Play Anywhere and Cloud support. Who knows if I'll be into PC gaming in a few years, but it seems like the smarter choice.

@Sindayl no it’s not. Their games may have not been redfall levels of bad they just haven’t had enough. The series launch line up was dog s h i t. Their line up up till 2025 was inconsistent at best. They announced far too many games too early and released games after years of development that were middling in South of Midnight and Hellblade 2. Their studio management has been horrible up till the last few years.

Who cares on which system your going to play it? The most important thing is that you are having a good time. 😉

@Fishmasterflex96 Lol, that’s a joke. Hellblade 2 has an 84 Metacritic score on PS5 and win several awards, South of Midnight won an award at the last Game Awards. You’re also forgetting games like Black Ops 6, Indiana Jones, Doom: The Dark Ages, Sea of Thieves (which also won an award), Avowed — which, despite a mixed reception, sold very well and got polished over time, etc.
Overall, Xbox is the publisher with the most‑played games on Steam, so unless players suddenly have terrible taste, I don’t see your point.

And yes, Xbox releases a lot of games, including niche titles like Keeper or Pentiment and don' sell always well (but don' cost much too). But that diversity is also one of Xbox’s strengths; there’s something for everyone. As for the Activision acquisition, I think Xbox did a great job turning things around considering the issues Activision had before the buyout.

Of course, not everything is perfect, but saying their studio management is ‘horrible’ is just false. They didn’t cancel 11 games, they don’t have flops on the level of Concord or Forspoken — you have to keep things in perspective. At least they actually make games, good ones and sometimes take risks.

@Naughtyottsel92 Yes, that’s it. The graphics were praised (it really is gorgeous) but the game was often considered rather boring (some ppl liked it though). Personally, I had much more fun with Tell Me Why, Beyond Two Souls or Life Is Strange.

@fatpunkslim their studio management is horrible when you lay off thousands and shut down studios that literally released your most highly rated game. Yes I realize that Xbox turned things around in fall 2024 but it shouldn’t have taken 4 year into the generation to get too that point. And the problem with Hellblade 2 is that it’s barely a game and is a glorified tech demo and with South of Midnight after 5+ years of development time it needed to be more, its gameplay was middling.

@darylb24 they absolutely have been better. Sony outside of 2023 has always been super consistent, they may have been over reliant on sequels and remasters but they have been way more consistent than Xbox has. Every year besides 2023 they have released 2-4 fantastic to good games. Xbox may have had more releases in certain years but Xbox’s problem has been consistency. Went from releasing 3 games in fall of 2021 to nothing until fall 2022. Look at years like 2024 when they had nothing of consequence until ***** may.

@Fishmasterflex96 Oh yeah, I misread your comment. Yes, the Series X lineup was a joke but third party exclusivity deals and locks on Sony’s side didn’t help either. I’m the first to say that Microsoft has been making terrible decisions one after another since the release of the Xbox Series consoles but Xbox has been a great brand during almost 20 years. Sadly, it’s obviously over now, thanks to a terrible management team (that is almost completely different from the one that ran the brand in the beginning).

@Sindayl Sony’s launch line up was a million times better then Xbox’s and over the entire generation Sony has been way more consistent then Xbox has been. Sony had exclusive deals yes but that’s the name of the game with consoles, Xbox tried and failed with this game. Besides 3rd party deals Sony’s 1st and 2nd party absolutely killed it at the ps5 launch.
