Over the past few days, we've seen quite a few issues with Red Dead Redemption and allowing Xbox 360 owners of the game to upgrade to the new Xbox Series X|S version, but that seems to have been mostly resolved at this point.
Unfortunately, a similar issue has cropped up for the new re-releases of Yakuza 0: Director's Cut, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2! All three of these games were meant to receive special upgrade discounts for owners of the Xbox One versions, but some players haven't been getting access to them as intended.
Here are just a couple of examples of this:
Just like in the case of Red Dead Redemption, the team behind Yakuza (RGG Studio) has issued a statement in response, but it's only on the Japanese version of their Twitter account.
The statement apologises for the problem and says they're "currently investigating and taking measures to ensure that the correct discount is set".
Here's a look at the tweet (but obviously it's in Japanese!):
So, if you're in this boat and currently waiting for one or more of these Yakuza games to get a special discount on Xbox, it's going to be a case of remaining patient and holding on a little longer. Interestingly the statement doesn't mention PS5, although we've seen reports that players are struggling with the same problem over there as well.
The Red Dead situation was eventually resolved, so we're assuming the same thing will happen here over the coming days. Fingers crossed they can figure out a better way to make these upgrades more seamless in 2026 and beyond.
