Today, we're reporting on a situation more like the first story, where an Xbox fan has taken to Reddit to share that they recently missed out on a King of the Hill Xbox controller that was given away as a "Grand Prize" in a sweepstakes.
This was held by Microsoft and Hulu, and appeared as part of a full-screen ad on the Xbox dashboard a few months ago. We've never come across the controller being publicly marketed aside from this (not even on social media).
The person who accidentally missed out on the prize is understandably "bummed" by what happened, sharing an email from Microsoft that explained how the prize had been "forfeited" due to a lack of reply.
Therefore, another winner will have been chosen instead.
"Thankfully I didn't lose out on a console or anything but still a big bummer. May have to set email alerts for the future."
For what it's worth, one of the winners shared a look at the controller itself:
Honestly, we don't think the controller is that worth getting upset about, especially considering how people have lost much more valuable prizes in the past, but it's still a shame to come across situations like this whenever they happen.
The big takeaway for us is to make sure you're always keeping on top of your emails when entering Xbox contests like this! It's also worth keeping in mind that fake emails are out there, so always do your due diligence before handing over any information.
