Yesterday, the team at Game Science quietly released a new update for Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox that particularly affects the Series X version of the game, although it does include some improvements for the Series S as well.

The main thing of note here is the "issue where the graphics appeared blurry on Xbox Series X", which apparently was the result of global illumination ghosting in both the Quality and Balance modes.

This has now apparently been fixed, and you can see some new footage of the Series X version following the update at the top of this article - courtesy of the excellent and very prompt Fuzion Xbox Testing!

Here are the full patch notes for Black Myth: Wukong's latest Xbox update:

  • Fixed an issue where the graphics appeared blurry on Xbox Series X due to global illumination ghosting in Quality and Balance modes.
  • Fixed crashes and errors occurring under certain conditions.
  • Fixed an issue where certain side quests became unprogressable or triggered errors when a dialogue was exited abnormally.
  • Fixed an issue where certain bosses in Mount Huaguo would sink abnormally when the player moved away.
  • Fixed an issue where the game responded slowly to controller input in the Text Language dropdown menu within Settings.

Game Science has yet to say much about how Black Myth: Wukong has performed on Xbox, but looking at the "Top Paid" Xbox Charts (which, to be fair, can be a bit unreliable at times), it's currently sitting in the #30 spot.

That's not bad considering the game's been out for almost a month now, and we're intrigued to find out exactly how many copies it's sold in the near future - maybe a couple of million? Perhaps less? We'll have to wait and see.

Oh, and don't forget that the next game in the series was announced for Xbox at Gamescom 2025! That game is called Black Myth: Zhong Kui, and we're expecting it to be many years away, but it's nice to know it'll be on Xbox day one.
