Hitman Dev Reveals Name Of James Bond Game, Full Reveal Set For This Week

I really hope this isn't 007 in a Hitman skin. I hope it's something new, with a new formula, and a solid take on the IP.

@Kaloudz Thats what im hoping too. Apart from Kane and Lynch years ago, the Hitman series is basically their only game so i'm also hoping they've come up with something new

Even if it was just a modified Hitman - I would take it… 007 just is a great IP to have …. Like printing money

I think the Hitman games, while technically very proficient, are a bit bland and too formulaic. Agent 47 isn't much fun a role to take on after a while, and although I always like starting a new game (especially in the last of the series), it gets tiring and dull quickly.

I think with some James Bond panache, some decent cut scenes to add a little flavour and a killer soundtrack, this could do really very well. I look forward to seeing what they do with it!

@Isca I completely agree. I have no doubt IO have the skill to create a great 007 game. From memory, I had a great time with Kane and Lynch, and the Hitman games are good (although I agree on them quickly becoming dull). I’m sure they will come up with a fresh idea for 007. Will be quite interesting to see how it comes out.

@Isca @-taco Exactly. This is the issue I have with the new Hitman series (the latest trilogy). I say that because I never played any of the originals so I cant speak for them. The new trilogy though, get boring very, very quickly.

I get that you can play each mission in a variety of different ways, but the problem also means that most levels can be beaten in less than an hour - much less. Which means if you're just playing through casually, your game is over in a handful of hours.

GoldenEye was perfect for a Bond game IMO. Different difficulties bring harder enemies, heavier health penalties, and more mission objectives the harder you set the difficulty. I really hope that this game plays less like Hitman and more structured. Also, do we know who they're using? Will it be Craig, the most recent Bond? Or don't we know that yet?

Yeah, finally! Surely, it will be great...or that's my hope, at least.

@Kaloudz As far as I understand, the game will have its own Bond - I guess it will be only used in this game. Unless they will tie this game to the next movie in the franchise and the game functions as a way to announce the next movie Bond (which I highly doubt, but one can only dream, right?).

@HarmanSmith Yeah you're absolutely right. The art poster for First Light shows (who I am assuming to be) Bond - unless it's the villain - but if it is Bond, it's certainly a unique look. I'll play it because I like the IP, but I don't want it to be even a shred of what Hitman is like.

@Kaloudz Yeah, I totally understand your point.

Even if I "formally" love the Hitman trilogy (I played it and beat it), I don't have a desire to replay it anytime soon nor I am eager to see a new entry in the franchise. Their engine, though, looks great I think, and it would be nice to see that applied to a more action-oriented game.

@HarmanSmith Totally agree. Nothing wrong with Hitman for those that like it, but for something like Bond, what I personally would love to see is the same sort of thing we saw decades ago in GoldenEye. Missions, objectives that are specific to difficulty, and additional side quests per level. But that's just me. Do we know whether this is third or first person yet?

@Kaloudz I think we don't know yet. I'm guessing (because of the devs pedigree) it will be in third person? I would love to see Bond on that engine and in third person - if they nail it, it could be great indeed.

@HarmanSmith I just saw it on State of Play. It's not for me, at all. I don't like how it looks and I really don't like the Bond. That might just be me, and my preference, but meh... He looks like a right geek.
