There's still no date for the Lies of P "Overture" expansion just yet, but we've been hearing more about it over the past few days, alongside an upcoming free update for the base game that's going to give players new difficulty options.
Whenever this difficulty update arrives, Lies of P will feature new "Butterfly's Guidance" and "Awakened Puppet" difficulty options alongside the standard one, which is being renamed "Legendary Stalker". Even though these new difficulties are optional, the decision to include them has proved controversial with some fans - as seen below.

Ultimately, looking at the wider view, it seems most Lies of P fans are content with this move, pointing out that it's obviously an optional thing rather than being forced on players - but the decision definitely still has its detractors too.
For what it's worth, game director Jiwon Choi recently explained the reason for a difficulty update to VGC:
“We wanted to make sure a wider audience of players could play the game. So by making development adjustments and introducing these difficulty options, we can offer the experience to different types of players. This broadens the base.”
As for Lies of P: Overture itself, we now know that it's going to be around 15-20 hours in length and release at some point this summer for $30, while a whole bunch of new gameplay has been revealed which we'll throw down below.
Our sister site Push Square recently covered some changes coming to Lies of P: Overture in more detail, while IGN's preview described it as not "play[ing] with the formula too much", but adding some cool new ingredients nonetheless.
