The Finals got a surprise launch around The Game Awards show last December, and now the game's second season is upon us - bringing new modes, weapons and features to the free-to-play Xbox FPS.

The headline addition is a brand-new 5v5 mode, which should mix up the flow of matches in The Finals. Described as a "casual" game mode, 'Power Shift' will see two teams of five fight to escort a platform through the arena. Here's the team's full description:

"THE FINALS Season 2 comes with Power Shift ā€” an all-new, casual, 5v5 game mode where two teams compete to escort a platform through the arena. If interrupted by an enemy team, the platform grinds to a halt ā€” or will switch direction entirely. Watch out, the platform will tear through anything in its path and can be rocked by physics. Players can switch their contestants between respawns, allowing them to balance their teams on the fly and hone their skills to perfection."

Fans can also expect a revamped League System for ranked play, three new weapons and a new 'Hacker Playstyle' that can be mixed and matched with the existing class system. The Finals Season 2 launches for Xbox Series X|S on March 14th.
