One of the many highlights of the latest Xbox Partner Preview was Capcom's new IP Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. As previously confirmed, it's coming to Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass "day one" and the latest update has now revealed the release date will be at some point "later this year" in 2024.

The new footage shows off the "latest gameplay" which takes "strong inspiration from various elements of Japanese culture". This includes enemies inspired by various Japanese Yokai and traditional dances derived from the Shinto religion in Japan.

In case you did miss the original reveal, this is a single-player experience that blends multiple genres across an in-game day and night cycle to create an "action-packed adventure". Nightfall, in particular, is made up of intense action and real-time strategy. Here's a bit more about the game's story:

"The story begins when the legendary Mt. Kafuku is covered by an evil defilement and the 12 masks, including their special powers, are stolen. Our protagonist, Soh, must work together with Yoshiro, the Maiden with divine powers, to purge and cleanse the villages of the defilement."

The masks worn by Soh and the villagers each feature a different divine power, and these powers are the key to protecting Yoshiro. As you cleanse additional villages from their evil defilement, you’ll recover more masks and work together with the various villagers that each mask unlocks to bring Mt. Kafuku back to its original beauty.
