Xbox Insiders Can Test Out The New 'Game Pass Core' Subscription This Week

Xbox Game Pass Core is still more than a month away from launching, but Microsoft is beginning a testing phase well in advance. Starting this week, Xbox Insiders who are part of the 'Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead' ring will be able to preview Game Pass Core ahead of its full rollout.

At the beginning, only a selection of the 25-game library will be available to play, before more titles are of course added at launch on September 14th. Insiders will be able to test Psychonauts 2, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, State of Decay 2 and DOOM Eternal.

Microsoft is warning users that they're likely to see some mixed messages during the testing period. Basically, phasing out the decades-long 'Xbox Live Gold' branding will take some doing, and players may still spot the name appearing where they'd expect to see Xbox Game Pass Core.

As long as you're subscribed to Gold, all of this Xbox Insider testing will update automatically, so there's no need for action if you want to take part in the trial. While only four titles will be live during this Xbox Insider preview, Microsoft has revealed 19 of the 25 games that are ready to go for the mid-September launch. You can check out the majority of the starting lineup down below.
