Gamescom 2023 is almost upon us, with the European gaming convention set to take place from August 23rd through August 27th. As has become the norm in recent years, The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley will host his annual 'Opening Night Live' show this year (taking place on Tuesday, August 22nd), although it may be best to temper your expectations ahead of the 2023 event.

Speaking to outlet VGC, Keighley says that this year's showcase is focused more on updates for already-announced titles rather than loads of brand-new reveals.

"This year’s ONL is less about announcing brand new projects, and more about giving fans updates on some of the biggest games due out over the next year.

It’s going to be an exciting show with new looks at many announced upcoming games like Alan Wake 2, and Black Myth Wukong,"

Despite Keighley's showcase perhaps being a bit less exciting this year, Xbox sounds like it's making its presence well and truly known at Gamescom 2023. Microsoft has touted its "largest booth ever" at this year's event, while Xbox exec Aaron Greenberg says the show will be "special" for team green. Remember, Xbox will be hosting its own from-the-booth livestreams during the event, which you can read about down below.

To be honest we never expect too much in the form of huge new reveals at Gamescom, so we'll take whatever we get later this month. In any case, it sounds like Xbox is planning a bit of a spectacle for the fans in attendance this year!
