Update (Wed 30th Aug, 2023): We now have a date for this one! It's coming to Xbox on October 17th, 2023. The standard version will retail at $39.99, while the "Colossal Edition" featuring eight exclusive film grains along with a "boss rush mode" and a few other bonus features will retail at $49.99.

Original story (Thu 20th Jul, 2023): After leaking earlier today via a premature Amazon product listing, GameMill Entertainment has officially unveiled Skull Island: Rise of Kong for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Set for a Fall 2023 launch, Rise of Kong is "an action-packed quest to avenge the death of Kong’s parents", and is set to be the first King Kong game to hit Xbox since Ubisoft's early Xbox 360 era title.
This new game doesn't look quite as high-budget as 2005's comically long-named Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie, so it may be worth tempering your expectations for Skull Island: The Rise of Kong on that front. Here are some screenshots of the game, along with a brief developer description:
"Take on an action-packed quest to avenge the death of Kong’s parents at the hands of the ultimate alpha predator: the saurian terror Gaw. Traverse the mysterious island and uncover its secrets across a variety of treacherous environments, discovering the power coursing through its exotic flora and fauna. Conquer waves of primal beasts, defeat unique bosses, and rise above all who stand in Kong’s way to being King!"

@ZuneTattooGuy I present to you, for your viewing pleasure, GameMill Entertainment's prior publishing history. It's not Gollum bad, but it's not reassuring either.
I am actually getting Maneater vibes-fearsome animal grows and gets power and eventually takes over the area. Cheesy graphics, limited story and combat, but good for a few hours of fun.
A new Maneater type of game would be a good outcome here!
I get early fears and concerns of this just being a simian version of the Gollum game. Hope I'm very wrong.

@GuyinPA75 Me too! I am hoping this game trends more like that than in a Gollum direction. If so, I would gladly spend a few bucks or a few hours on it.
This does not pass the smell test… I was so disappointed that I never got to mention Gollum first that I almost didn’t comment… sigh

Have him play Ape Out, it's a far better game about playing as a murderous Ape. Kids shouldn't have to play shovelware. Sorry but there is a zero percent chance this game will turn out playable let alone fun.

Honestly, this has nothing on the official game of the movie on the 360. Even today that game is an absolute gem and pleasure to play start to finish.
