Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time Remake Still In 'Early Stage' At Ubisoft Montreal

It was all the way back in 2020 when Ubisoft announced the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with a January 2021 release date, but unfortunately it's still nowhere near close to launch right now.

In May of last year, it was confirmed that Ubisoft Montreal was taking over the project from Ubisoft Mumbai and Pune, and in an interview this week, producer Jean-Francois Naud explained that the project was still in a "conception" phase:

"In terms of the development stage, we're in conception right now. Since we took over the project, we've been looking at feedback from the community and finding our own way of delivering the game. Now, we're building up the team, defining the priorities, putting prototypes together, testing elements, and looking at how we can include community feedback in the development as well.

It’s still in an early stage, and players should not expect to hear more about the game this year, but rest assured that we’re all putting our strengths and heart into this project."

Because of this, it's been confirmed that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake won't be showing up at the Ubisoft Forward event next month in any capacity, so we're going to have to wait until at least 2024 for any real news.

If you're desperate for more Sands of Time information though, the full interview on the Ubisoft website is well worth a read, where the team goes into significant detail about what they're aiming to achieve with the final product.
