Last Month's Xbox Series X And S Sales Strong In Europe Compared To April 2022

It seems to be a bit of an up-and-down story with Xbox hardware sales this generation, with 2023 continuing on that path so far. Recently, Xbox posted a year-on-year drop of 30% for Xbox hardware revenue globally, however, the consoles seem to have done well last month in a bunch of European markets - compared to the same time last year anyway.

Outlet gamesindustry.biz has posted a roundup of hardware and software sales from Europe last month, and all three big console makers have seen hardware increases over April 2022. Xbox Series X and S sales are up 19% this year, with big gains for Sony and Nintendo also.

It's important to note that this GI.biz data for hardware only covers the European nations of Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland - so figures from the UK and others are missing here.

In terms of software across all platforms in the region, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Dead Island 2 seem to be doing pretty well for themselves. Those two titles sit and number 1 and number 3 in the top 10 respectively, while EA's FIFA 23 is sandwiched in between at number 2 - just prior to its arrival on EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in May 2023.

Let's hope Xbox Series X|S hardware sales continue to trend in the right direction for the rest of year, perhaps bolstered by the likes of Starfield and Forza Motorsport arriving during the latter half of 2023!
