Koei Tecmo has announced the release date for its upcoming Fatal Frame remaster, and it's not far off folks! Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse hits Xbox platforms on March 9th, 2023, with both an Xbox One and a Series X|S version in the works.

Here in the UK (and Europe), the series is instead titled 'Project Zero', so we'll be getting Project Zero: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse on the very same date: March 9th. Here's a brief overview of the upcoming title, which originally released for Nintendo Wii way back in 2008.

FATAL FRAME: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is a frightening mystery that takes place on a remote island in southern Japan. A decade after five young girls mysteriously disappeared at an island festival, their memories of the events that transpired during their disappearance remain fuzzy.

But when two of the girls are found dead days apart ten years after the initial vanishing, the remaining three teenagers head back to the island — a haunted place possessed by ghosts and spirits — to solve the mystery of their friends’ deaths, while also unlocking the secrets to the memories they left behind.

For now, the publisher only plans to release this one digitally, with no physical versions announced thus far. The series' most recent release, Maiden of Black Water, finally arrived on Xbox platforms last October, after seven years of exclusivity on Nintendo Wii U.
