Pure Xbox Game Club: June 2022 Game Announcement

Want to enhance your Xbox Game Pass experience? Come join the official Pure Xbox Game Club!

We can't take any credit on staff for this β€” the PX Game Club is the work of ralphdibny and the rest of the contributors over at the Pure Xbox forums, who have established a community that meets up every month to play a game on Xbox Game Pass and share their experiences. Games are voted on every month by the contributors involved.

The game for June 2022 is Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which is available as part of EA Play. The intent is to play through the first game only, although feel free to move onto the second and third games if you want to!

You'll find the forum thread to get involved below (it has over 1,650 entries to date!):

If you're interested in what kind of discussion goes on, here's an example of what one contributor had to say about last month's Pure Xbox Game Club title, Life Is Strange: True Colors:

"Haven Springs and its residents really felt like a community. I was thinking about this some more and while many places within games are memorable how many actually get this aspect right, not many I'd wager. The actual footprint of the game, the area you can walk around, is tiny. Mostly half a high street with a couple of buildings and alleys you can go into, plus a couple of mostly unimportant areas you visit once as a plot device.

However visiting them and their residents repeatedly really built up that sense of place and community through simple game design. It reminds me of Yakuza's Kamurocho or even, to a lesser extent, earlier GTAs like 3 and Vice City before world size became the defining factor and we hardly returned to the same place twice, Grove Street excepted. Often less is more and density of the world over expansiveness can be a good thing. Smaller developers in particular can leverage this to their advantage in some games."
