Skate 4 'Launching Soon' And Will Feature User-Generated Content, Says EA CEO

Tucked into EA's recent financial earnings call, CEO Andrew Wilson spoke about the company's sports titles, including upcoming plans for Skate 4.

It looks like the long-awaited sequel to 2010's Skate 3 (yes, 2010!) might be closer than we first anticipated. In the call, Wilson speaks about user-generated content in the likes of FIFA, Madden and Skate (thanks, TweakTown).

I think that has been the fuel that has driven the growth in recent times. As part of that of course, the ability to create your own content and put it into that ecosystem has become a really valuable part of what our industry offers to our players and our fans that traditional media doesn't offer.

It has been at the very center of the Sims for a long time, it's at the very center of modes like FIFA and Madden Ultimate Team, it's at the very center at the design of Skate which will be launching soon.

Yes, it's vague, but we do get a little Skate nugget with "launching soon" slipped in there. When exactly soon is, we're not sure. However, if user-generated content is a big focus, the core game might not take quite as long to develop.

Don't expect Skate 4 too soon though. It's only been a year since EA launched its Vancouver-based studio, Full Circle, to develop the game.

Will EA stick the landing with Skate 4? Let us know your thoughts below.
