Update: It's official! WWE 2K22 will be releasing on Xbox on March 11th.

Original story: Here's some great news for fans of WWE and wrestling games in general, as it's been reported that WWE 2K22 will be releasing on March 11th, and we've also got a look at the apparent cover art — featuring cover star, Rey Mysterio.

This has been leaked by Technik News writer Nils Ahrensmeier on Twitter, who previously did the same with the cover art for Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania back in mid-2021. In other words, it looks pretty legit.

According to Ahrensmeier, WWE 2K22 will be getting a three-day early access period for people who pre-order the game, and an additional pre-order bonus for Deluxe Edition owners will be the WWE 2K Undertaker Immortal Pack, featuring "three additional Undertaker personas: Phantom Mask Undertaker, Lord of Darkness Undertaker, Boneyard Match Undertaker, MyFACTION EVO cards for Undertaker, and MyFACTION Perks and Bonuses." The Deluxe Edition will also come with the WWE 2K22 Season Pass.

Finally, an "nWo 4-Life Edition" has also been mentioned, but no details have been provided on this as of yet.

So, exciting news then! We've been waiting two whole years for a new WWE game after the horrific reception suffered by WWE 2K20, so let's hope 2K22 can right those wrongs and give us something to be excited about in March.
