The saga continues! Following rumours and speculation about a new batch of backwards compatible titles being added on Xbox this Monday, November 15th, various older back compat games have suddenly received unexpected updates.
Lots of Xbox fans have been taking to social media to share this, as you can see below:
The boring (and possibly most likely) conclusion for this is that the Xbox team is simply performing generic emulation maintenance — there's no sign that these games are getting specific content updates or anything like that.
However, with rumours that the Xbox team might have a few more games to add to the backwards compatible library this coming Monday, we're certainly curious as to whether these updates are related to their impending arrival.
Just a couple of days left until we find out!

I really need to dig out Oblivion, now.
This would be wonderful, it's a great set of titles. I hope, considering the timing, that something comes of these different rumours. Would be a bit disappointing if not.
Xbox have been very quiet about additional games in backwards compatibility, X-enhanced and even FPS boost for a while.
The ultimate dream, and probably too much to hope, is that these are getting an X enhanced patch and/or some sort of FPS boost.

@themightyant I don’t think it’s an unreasonable hope. It’s exactly the sort of thing I’d expect to be announced for the 20th anniversary stream more so than new games or new footage(other than the Halo rumour).
Funny enough I noticed this myself last night. The games that had updates for me was, Final Fantasy 13-2 and Final Fantasy 13-3.
I think it's just an emulation update.
Games like Kameo, AC, Sonic Generations, FF13 etc...they all are already X enhanced.
So unless they are also adding FPS Boost to them, then I'd temper expectations...
I mean, it's not totally impossible that these updates came about while improving the emulation engine to include or improve many more games.
Please make Generations 60fps. It runs so much better on PC.
Would love to see Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix and Max Payne 3 show up.
Oblivion is not available for download in Brazil. Hopefully it's finally available in all territories.
Gears of war 2 and judgement never got any specific high res updates I don’t think. So be great if they got that but then gears of war 3 did and that’s on the list too 🤔
Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been updated, too, for me.

60 fps on 360 games ?
@gollumb82 FPS boost usually does not require a patch. But Resolution boost… that would require one, and it’s what I’m hoping for. Of course would also be thrilled with simple FPS boost.

I didn't know that. Any updates at this point are welcome, but one can hope for boosts to fps or resolution 🙂
@Scenes I don't know about Judgement, but I can confirm that 2 and 3 were updated for Xbox One X in 4K.
Still 30 fps, thought.
Maybe this series of patches announces a 60 fps feature for backward games.
Sonic Generations in 60 fps would just be the dream !

FPS boost on Mirror’s Edge and Gears 2 would be awesome.
Odd I have pretty much all these and have had no update for em. I even manually tried launching them.

360 games are updated all the time, I think it's every time the native emulator is updated.

I noticed that last night ,Gears of war ultimate edition got an update aswell
I would imagine this is just stability checks for the games as a few 360 games I've played on backwards compatibility ( ahem...looking at you Oblivion ) has crashed randomly on me... twice.
