Microsoft CEO Says Xbox Series X And Series S Are The Company’s Fastest Ever Selling Consoles

Despite chip shortages and people still struggling to pick up a next-gen console amongst scalpers, it's been said that the Xbox Series X and Series S are Microsoft's "fastest selling consoles ever".

The claim comes from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who made the comment during the company's recent earnings call (transcribed by The Verge). Nadella also reiterated that Xbox is "all in on games", something he and Xbox boss Phil Spencer also stated earlier this year.

“We're all in on games. The Xbox Series S and X are our fastest selling consoles ever, with more consoles sold life-to-date than any previous generation.”

Xbox hardware has seen a revenue increase of 172% in the past quarter, according to a recently published Q4 fiscal results report. This is said to have helped gaming revenue raise $357 million (11%).

Over the past few months we've seen the Xbox Series X and Series S becoming best-selling consoles in certain territories. Back in March, the Xbox Series S was reportedly the best-selling console in India, while the year kicked off with the UK boasting impressive results for both systems in January.

While there's no end in sight when it comes to chip shortages and manufacturing woes, it's clear the demand is still there to pick up one of Xbox's next-gen systems. With such a huge slate of titles on the way, including Psychonauts 2 and Halo Infinite, there's no doubt the company will continue to yield huge profits.
