We reported earlier today that Remedy Entertainment had signed an agreement with a 'major publisher' to develop two next-gen games. Well, that publisher is none other than Epic Games, which has revealed it's also working with Playdead (Inside, Limbo) and gen Design (The Last Guardian) in a "new multiplatform publishing effort with a developer-first approach".
Epic Games has detailed how its approach to publishing "fundamentally changes the developer/publisher model". Ultimately, developers are promised to retain full creative control and 100% of all IP, as well as earn a fair share for their work, earning at least 50% of all profits (once costs are recouped). Additionally, Epic Games Publishing will cover up to 100% of development costs.
Here's what Head of Epic Games Publishing Hector Sanchez had to say:
“gen DESIGN, Remedy, and Playdead are among the most innovative and talented studios in the industry, with strong visions for their next games. They will have full creative control, while Epic will provide a solid foundation of project funding and services."
The company has confirmed additional information, development partners and games will be announced in the coming months. How do you feel about the announcement of Epic Games Publishing? Sound off in the comments below.

Well Epic isn't a bad publisher, and I imagine Valve fanboys have steam coming out of their ears over this, but I think it's important that, especially in Remedys case, they just have the creative freedom to make what they want. If Epic gives that to them, what's the problem?
I really wish Microsoft had purchased Remedy after Alan Wake. Could you imagine how huge it would have been to have Control be an Xbox exclusive? But it's whatever, as long as they keep making good stuff
This is actually good for all the developers involved. And other than Steam fanboys, we win as gamers too bc we all get to play these games.
I dunno. Epic Games taking 50% of game sales is big chunk. That's bigger than what MS, Sony or Nintendo take. Heck, even Valve only takes 30%, and 70% is for the dev. And that's without signing a deal.
Sure, they cover development costs, but those are marginal compared to the profits. And I'm not sure of handing in an additional 20% profits will offset that.
