Microsoft has announced today that the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will officially launch in mainland China in a few weeks on June 10, with pre-orders starting as soon as next week from the Microsoft Store on Wednesday, May 19.
The recommended retail price of the Xbox Series X will be ¥3,899 in the country, while the Xbox Series S will retail for ¥2,399. Here's what Microsoft's marketing director for Xbox greater China had to say about the announcement:
"We're excited to be able to sync with Chinese gamers into the new generation of games and experience the new generation of games with a high degree of immersion and compatibility. Games are a very creative way to express themselves, to stimulate our imaginations, to connect with each other in a vivid story."
The release of the Xbox Series X and S in mainland China will mark exactly seven months since the consoles arrived for the first time across the world on November 20, 2020. Hopefully they get off to a good start in the region!

That's a shame, I was hoping they might launch the series x in the UK first
It won't due well due to typical Chinese government restrictions. Just about the same as anything like this that gets launched there.
Series X in China will be 3899 ..... dollars????? 😱😱😱

Haha I know you meant series s but made me laugh
@InterceptorAlpha
I agree it won't but it's a easy way to get some developers to get dev kits. Which with what happened with the Xbox one we got a few Indie Games from the area we normally wouldn't.
@Terrin Not the first time I've done that, won't be the last!
Good luck trying to get a hold of these China, your gunna need it.
@Terrin That's a very fair point. I've played some good things that came out of China when they were ripping assets from other games Cough*Stellaris Mobile*cough. I just wish that they had more access and freedom so we could see the creative potential of people that want nothing more than to tell their own story in game form.
Get ready for those double and triple-digit sales numbers on the weekly reports my friends 😂 great to launch in China though, really interested to see how the uptake is or if it falls flat
So they are launching in communist China but many Eastern Europe countries are still left behind. When Xbox will be launched in Ukraine, Microsoft?
@InterceptorAlpha
I understand the West’s criticism of Chinese government. However, China being communist was the direct result of the May 4th movement, due to the West betrayal of China after the first world war.
@Don Strange for you to presume I'm not aware of the history. Stra ger still you'd see this as reason for playing the devils advocate for a cou try that has has over half a century to change.
