Far Cry 5 is my favourite so far, it’s one of my favourite games from the last generation. I love the setting, and the cult as the bad guys.
I've only played Far Cry 3 so that wins by default..
I picked 3 but really enjoy 5
Tempted to say 3 but the 'caveman simulator' was really refreshing, technology free and they even created an ancient dialect for it. Blood Dragon was a short but nostalgically sweet time too. 5 had promise but the cult thing played it a bit too safe considering the current insanity in the US. I'm sure Ubisoft were trying to stay away from politics as much as possible though, can't blame them, they might have been cancelled.
Primal hands down
I've been playing the Far Cry series in order the past couple of years. The first one was pretty good although it doesn't really showcase the identity that the franchise has established with the later entries. The Far Cry Instincts Predator games are literally the bane of my existence. I couldn't get past them for over a year because of how long, tedious and difficult they were. Far Cry 2 is the first game in the series that gave us a glimpse of what the series would become, but it felt way too linear and repetitive. Far Cry 3 pretty much perfected the formula right off the bat and it's the latest one I've played, so I'm voting for that one. Not to mention that it has the tropical setting that the first couple of games had, which makes it the one that truly represents the series in my eyes. I have no doubt that I'll like the games that came out after FC3, but they all lack the nice tropical setting that FC3 has. Because of that, I don't think my answer would change even if I'd play them.
That's actually why I'm so excited for Far Cry 6 since it takes place in a tropical setting once again.
FC5 hands down
Far Cry 2 for me. God knows it has its problems, but the setting, style and tone really did it for me. I know I'm in the minority, but I wasn't as keen on the direction the series took from Far Cry 3 onwards, although I have to say I'm liking the look of Far Cry 6.
Far Cry 2 wins for me. Like TimG13 says it did have it's problems, but I loved it. I think I've only ever finished 2 and 4 but have played all of them apart from New Dawn. Is Far Cry: Instincts available on Xbox through BC?
3, blood dragon, 1, 4, 5, new Dawn, 2, instincts.
I think Far Cry Instincts: Predator was one of my first 1000gs on 360. That was a great game, having 2 campaigns.
Otherwise its hard to say since 3/4/5 are very similar. I still need to play Blood Dragon though. Maybe soon!
3 is still the best one. They just can't seem to find a way to surpass it, despite the other ones being all good/great tbf
Gawtdamn! That's a lot of farcry
I've only played 3 and 4 and went with the latter on the basis that I preferred the setting, however the actual gameplay and characters were better in 3. Also, 4 just felt like more of the same with no real innovations over it's predecessor. I get the impression that 3 set the formula for its successors, and certainly seems to be the most influential, so on that basis, I can understand why people would go for 3.
Voted for Blood Dragon. It’s simply my favorite Far Cry experience. It was different and unique and funny. 1, I never played, but 2 was good. I liked 3, thought 4 was more of the same, Primal was interesting but didn’t grab me, 5 started great but I just lost my interest in it a few hours in.
Blood Dragon by far, it's beautifully self conscious. Not too long like most ubisoft games, and just hilariously written. FC5 looked good but I disliked it alot, same old ubi formula. Couldn't get into fc2 because it looked horrible sadly.
Didn't even have to think about it, easily 3 by leaps and bounds.
The first game was amazing for it's time but it aged rather poorly, and all the spin-offs were mediocre. The second game was a real misstep with some terrible ideas and a dreary world, but the third game was lightning in a bottle. Blood Dragon was just a spin-off DLC/expansion for the most part, and 4 was okay but not nearly as fun as 3. 5 wasn't bad but it wasn't great, and New Dawn was just sort of a cringe DLC/expansion. Primal is different, it had it's moments, but not a top game for me.
Not really into the series personally but I am curious about 6.
Blood Dragon by far. I’ve played 2 to about half way through, but it’s so repetitive that I didn’t see the point of finishing it. 3 was great, but the drug factor just got dull very quickly (though I know it isn’t like they had an agenda) and the protagonist wasn’t particularly likeable. 4 was good fun, the grey morality involved in the story and it has a great bad guy. Likewise, 5 is fun to play and I liked the whole cult angle. I actually think that New Dawn is even better. However, Blood Dragon is just 6 hours of perfection. Spot on 80’s movie and cultural references, a really likeable badass protagonist (Michael ‘Hicks/Kyle Reece’ Bene), ridiculously overpowered weapons and a focused (though short) campaign. Add the brilliant 16 bit cut scenes, Dad joke-esque sense of humour and awesome soundtrack, it is the Xbox game I revisit time and time again (it was the first 360 game I collected all the achievements for). I only wish we had a proper sequel (the trials games was enjoyable but pointless) or some sort of physical release. Mark 4 style mutha-f****!
It was a toss up between Far Cry Instincts / Evolution / Predator and FC3 for me, in the end I opted for FCIEP as I remember really enjoying the enhancements you could get for the character and the more sci-fi feel of the games.
I intend to give FC5 another go as I played it in co-op and it just didn't feel right as a co-op game. I felt I missed elements of the story, and was rushed through the game because my mate didn't have the time to explore the game as I would have done.
Really looking forward to FC6 though, and hope that it too is not a co-op game...
Tough choice for me I loved both Blood Dragon and Primal but I have to go with Primal due to how creative it was with weapons since there were no guns.
FC3 has my favorite map to date and may be my favorite if it looked and played as well a FC5 does on my PS4 Pro. The FC3 port to the PS4 looks and plays worse than it does on my PS3.
With that said FC5 is the winner as it has my second favorite map to date, looks/plays great on my Pro, and has the fun Arcade mode.
I have played, on PS3/4, FC Classic, 2, 3, 4, Primal, 5, and New Dawn. FC2 is my least favorite and i have yet to finish one play through even though i purchased the week it was released. Lack of fast travel and guns breaking/jamming every other magazine just made playing more annoying than fun.
