Outriders To 'Expand' After Reaching 3.5 Million Players In Its First Month

After launching day one into Xbox Game Pass, we're not surprised Outriders has become a success, but even we're shocked by some of these stats. Within its first month, the game managed to hit 3.5 million players, leading the team "expanding Outriders in the future."

Out of those 3.5 million players, a whopping total of 120 million hours of total game time has been racked up, with the average player pumping 31 hours into the game. It's an insane result, considering the game has suffered an array of technical issues since launch, but it seems to have secured a future for the series.

In a blog post on Reddit, the team added that "launching an entirely new game IP is never easy", but they are committed "to improving and enhancing your experience throughout the coming weeks and months". It ends on the tease that Outriders will be "expanding" in the future.

"Launching an entirely new game IP is never easy and we remain very grateful for all your support and feedback – we are still here, are continuing to listen carefully and want to assure you all that we are committed to improving and enhancing your experience throughout the coming weeks and months. We're also looking forward to expanding Outriders in the future…"

According to Square Enix (thanks, VGC), the IP is "on track to become the company’s next major franchise". Whether you like the game or not, you can't deny the success its managed to achieve in such a short space of time. It's unclear if that momentum will continue, but no doubt the team will work hard on delivering the Outriders experience players want.

Are you one of the 3.5 million players who dived into Outriders? Let us know in the comments below.
