Good news for fans of Call of Duty: Warzone! Not only has the game been made free-to-play with Xbox Live Gold on Xbox this week, but Raven Software has also confirmed that it's working on a proper next-gen upgrade for the game.
Speaking to CharlieIntel, the studio explained that it has a “dedicated technology team” focused specifically on getting Warzone ready for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PS5, and they're currently "hard at work" on it.
Technically, Call of Duty: Warzone is still running via backwards compatibility on Xbox Series X right now, although a 120fps update was quietly pushed out last November. According to the outlet, the next-gen patch upgrade will include "support for the consoles’ SSD to allow for faster load times," as well as a potential FOV slider.
What do you want to see from Call of Duty: Warzone's next-gen upgrade? Tell us in the comments.

Nice, while I'm not a fan of fov on consoles I wouldn't mind them fixing the draw distance.
Do as they may, it won't make a bad game good.

Smaller file size. 💁🏻♂️
Finally... I bet that the only reason they did not released a next gen patch day 1 is because they did not wanted Warzone to compete with Black Ops sales.
@JetmanUK yup! The game already looks and runs like a next gen game, so just make those file sizes smaller and I'll be happy.
@JetmanUK This.
I'd give Warzone a go if the file size wasn't disgusting.
