Xbox Is Officially Trying To Bring Back A Version Of 1 Vs. 100

Xbox head Phil Spencer conjured up a lot of excitement a few weeks ago when he teased the potential return of Xbox 360 classic live trivia game 1 Vs. 100, and he was asked about this again in a recent interview with GameSpot.

Spencer confirmed that he's very interested in bringing back some form of a 1 Vs. 100 style game, but it might not be the exact same thing due to potential challenges with the 1 Vs. 100 name and branding.

"I am a big fan of 1 Vs. 100 and Chris Charla (ID@Xbox director) and I have had many, many discussions on this topic. I know I teased it a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't tease people if I didn't think that that was something...

Whether it's that exact IP - there's some things with that IP that people know about, it came from a game show on one of our TV networks here - but the mechanic of people playing online, and just the whole structure of that was really neat and special - maybe ahead of its time. I regret that we didn't keep it going."

I can't announce anything here... but I'll just say Chris and I are - we're on the case, I'll put it that way."

In case you're unaware, 1 vs. 100 was a game in which 101 Xbox Live users would play together, with one randomly selected player chosen to compete against a "Mob" of the rest. The gameplay saw everyone attempting to answer questions, with "The One" attempting to eliminate "The Mob" along the way.

Ten years later, there's still a lot of love for this game in the Xbox community, so let's hope Microsoft can find a way to bring it back - or make something even better - at some point in the next year. Fingers crossed!
