In the midst of all the busy Bethesda news taking place today, Microsoft has quietly unveiled a new look at the share functionality on Xbox Series S and X, demoing how that brand-new button on the controller works.
As detailed in a video by Xbox Live's Major Nelson, the button (which sits directly in the middle of the new controller) is simply a shortcut for taking screenshots, capturing clips and starting/stopping recording, all of which can be mapped to the button individually depending on what you want to use it for.
And better yet, you can actually map two different functions to the button - one for pressing it and one for holding it, so you shouldn't need to keep re-mapping the different functions too often.
Are you planning to make use of the Share button on Xbox Series S / X? Let us know in the comments.

@Medic_Alert With preorders opening in 14 hours, I wouldn't be surprised if something else turned up.
Just want to wish everyone good luck tomorrow with preordering 😊
@Medic_Alert
We can but hope and pray.
I’m sure if we are bang on it at 8am we should all be fine.
I’m more worried about the website crashing.
Switch and PS both work by press for snapshot, hold for short video, makes sense to keep it the same.
Also can we stop refering to the console as the xbox series X and just call it the xbox series. It could get confusing when you end up with stuff that is legit exclusive to the XBSX.
Remember theres a chance the preorders go live before 8am. You never know. I'll be checking regularly from 7:30am
