Sports Interactive subtly dropped the news earlier this week that hugely popular PC sports sim Football Manager would be returning to Xbox consoles for the first time in over decade this December.
And according to Sports Interactive studio director Miles Jacobson, the reason for this is because Microsoft has been very persistent in trying to bring the series back to Xbox for years now.
Here's how Jacobson explained it on Twitter while addressing the lack of a PS4 or PS5 version:
The Xbox version of Football Manager 2021 will be based on the "Touch" edition of the game, presenting the overall experience in a more simplified and accessible format, which Jacobson says is a collaborative decision between the developer and Microsoft due to "how people play games on the Xbox ecosystem."
Look out for more details on Football Manager 2021 Xbox Edition's feature set over the coming weeks.

This is a very popular title to miss.
Hmm Nintendo switch got it the last two years though, whys that?
And sega have plenty of ps4 dev kits and could of easily gave one to one of their OWN studios.
I honestly beleive money was exchanged for this to happen but oh well il just play it on gamepass
No interest in the title, but another string in the bow for MS being more "for the players" than Big Blue ever were.

Microsoft did this at the start of the 360 generation too. They brought games over from PC that are part of genres that may not be typical on consoles & I loved it. Real Time Strategy games were a good example. It created a lot of exclusives that weren’t even 1st party. Quake 4 never went on PS3. Of course, Sony’s cell processor had a lot to do with that. BioShock & The Orange Box were even exclusives for awhile because of this.
They also created the Xbox Store & Live Arcade (kinda like Steam). Now they are just industry standards.
I love that Xbox thinks with a PC mindset at times. It’s why we are getting Gears Tactics on XSX. Even with their 1st party games, we get a ton of variety.
This is Sony’s loss. Jim Ryan only seems to care about their AAA 3rd person, single player, action adventure games. There is no variety in their 1st party. They do get Japanese games to be exclusive sometimes, so I guess they have that. If Microsoft can get some PC exclusives to combat it, then more power to them.
Perhaps I can finally get that Champions League title for Hartlepool through Game Pass. Hope there’s a way to carry forward my file, I’ve spent too much time getting that Premier League title.

I would love a Command & Conquer Remastered on XSX! I played the really old ones on my old PC at the time & I played all the 360 ones. EA actually did a great job with them.
FM is such a "chill" game for me and i love xbox bring the franchise back.
I think recently sony have more focused to securing timed exclusives for big AAA games, and xbox have better exclusives for indies. (ooblets, tunic, sable, 12 min, drake hollow, etc)
