Various Xbox 360 Games Are Unexpectedly Free On The Microsoft Store

Update (Tue 4th Aug, 2020 10:00): Unfortunately, it looks like most of these are now going back to full price.

Original Story (Sun 2nd Aug, 2020 23:30 BST): It's time for a freebie alert! Various classic Xbox games have unexpectedly gone free on the Microsoft Store, but the catch is that some of them are only free in certain regions.

The two that you can claim in the majority of locations right now are Star Wars Jedi Starfighter and the original Destroy All Humans, but you'll require Xbox Live Gold to do so.

If you want to grab the rest, you'll need to visit the Microsoft Store pages for their specific regions. However, if you don't live in those places, we suggest doing this at your own risk.

Courtesy of the folks over at Reddit, here's the list of free games that have been spotted:

Why is this happening? We're not 100% sure, but it appears at least some of these free games (most of them former Xbox Games with Gold titles) are related to the recent major changes Microsoft has been making - transitioning its older games to the modern store.

We've seen a few glitches as a result of this, so these freebies might just be due to some bugs in the system. They haven't been removed yet though, so we'll have to wait and see...
