Microsoft has put out another lengthy article on Xbox Wire, this time detailing 'Optimized for Xbox Series X' games. This is the indicator for titles "that take advantage of the full power of Xbox Series X."
The company says that 'Optimized for Xbox Series X games' can showcase anything from the likes of virtually eliminated load times, heightened visuals and and hardware-accelerated DirectX Raytracing, to steadier and often higher framerates up to 120fps. These can be brand-new Xbox Series X games, or previously released titles with optimized features such as Gears 5 and Destiny 2.
It was also confirmed that 'Optimized for Xbox Series X' games will be targeting 60fps at 4K resolution:
Games that have been Optimized for Xbox Series X use the power of the new console to deliver higher, steadier framerates, with a performance target of 60 frames per second at 4K resolution. Some games will even be able to support framerates up to 120 fps or variable refresh rates, allowing developers to offer players heightened realism and more precise controls for fast-paced action.
We definitely recommend checking out the full article for lots more information on DirectX Raytracing, faster load times and more. You'll also find a full list of confirmed 'Optimized for Xbox Series X' games so far.

I saw the trailer but it looked like Valhalla was in it, and I thought that was 30fps?
@mousieone It hasn't been confirmed as 30fps yet.
Good news. Still not liking that logo, though. And that's putting it VERY mildly...
@mousieone ubisoft said that valhalla is 30fps in both consoles but they said there is a possibility for adding more option like a 1080p 60fps
@experTiger Last I heard was that a representative had said it would be "at least" 30fps - like you say, that seems to suggest it will be 30fps (possibly with a 60fps mode), but I don't think we can be sure.

I don't think that FPS and resolution are necessarily a sign of optimization, so this logo won't last forever. 4K 60 FPS would be more jargon but realistic.
Yeah, that's what Ubisoft said so basically we're in the dark. "At least 30 FPS" doesn't tell much. I hope that there's a 60 FPS mode. It's the 2020 third-party game I'm more excited about.
Having a target like this is nice and all, but I really need more game play and other details about the actual games themselves.
Right now I'm just not very excited about either console, PS5 or XboxX. But I'm leaning MS right now because of the backwards compatibility.
I still have all my old Xbox and Xbox 360 titles in storage. I'd love revisiting many of them. But my 360 mysteriously died a couple years ago. No red ring, it just doesn't turn on. No visible damage, it just doesn't react at all.
4K 60 sounds glorious. But I’d be equally happy if everything had an option for 1440/1080 at 60fps. Save me buying a Gaming rig. I need a new Sofa soon as well.
To be fair, I'd expect games like Gears 5 to run in 60fps next gen.
@FraserG thank you for your response.
Someone brought up an interesting point, if the series S is real. It’s possible that the Valhalla will run 30fps for the Series S and 60fps for Series X ? Anyway just cannon fodder for speculation but hmm
@Vincent294
A game that takes full advantage of the features on SeX to offer higher resolutions (4K) and better frame rates (60fps in Valhalla, for instance) is the very definition of a game being optimized. 😒
@SuperNintendoMii
Gears 5 already runs at 60fps on Xbox One X. I'm expecting the ultra settings preset that the game has on PC and some ray-tracing bling.
@gingataisen yeah I know but the article mentioned gears 5 so I'd expect current gen games to run at 60fps on series x whether they are 60 or 30fps right now.
But yeah if it could run on ultra pc settings that would be glorious
