The latest entry in the popular and long-running World Rally Championship series will be heading to next-gen consoles in September 2020, including Xbox Series X. But first, it'll be launched on current-gen platforms including Xbox One, with no official date given as of yet.

According to the official WRC website, the game will bring "added realism for gamers" and "thrust the WRC into the forefront of new technology". More than 50 drivers, World Rally Cars from all three WRC manufacturer teams, classic locations and cars, an enhanced career mode, and more than 400km of roads from all 13 scheduled rounds of the 2020 WRC season will be included.

Here's what WRC Promoter managing director Oliver Ciesla had to say about it:

"WRC 9 will capture the adventure and challenges posed by the real-life FIA World Rally Championship in an ever-more realistic fashion, thanks to significant upgrades by Nacon and KT Racing. It also paves the way for further ground-breaking development in WRC 10 and WRC 11 over the next two seasons as we continue to provide the opportunity for gamers to step into their heroes’ shoes."

As you can see from the video above, no footage of the game for either Xbox One or Xbox Series X has been provided as of yet (the image for this article is from WRC 8). It seems like we'll have to wait a little longer to see what the first officially announced rally game for Xbox Series X actually looks like.
