The new DLC add-on for Forza Horizon 2, entitled Storm Island will be released tomorrow, December 16th, it has been revealed.
Storm Island provides a new "extreme weather" feature, where the heavens open and throw down storms, as well as an entire new area of the map. The new area will include 80 new events, six new cars - including off-road raid trucks - a new Gauntlet event, a new game mode entitled "Rampage", a new car meet, new Bucket List, new barn find, and some new Playground Arenas.
The DLC pack will cost $19.99, although Forza Horizion 2 VIPs will get the add-on at a 50% discount, making it $9.99.
We were pretty enamoured with the game when we reviewed it at launch and will definitely be looking to take over Storm Island. Don't forget, if you're just taking the plunge into Forza Horizon 2, you can join the official Team pX Car Club - just search for the tag "[PURE]".
IGN have the trailer for Storm Island, and you can check it out here.

Nice to see some real dlc and not just car packs.
Whoa. Ill definitely be downloading this tomorrow.
Ooh... Wasn't expecting this. Loved the game when it first came out, but gotten distracted by ac, far cry, halo and sunset overdrive. Might just be a great excuse to head back to the festival...
I thought it would be $20 for everybody so I was going to wait a little bit but for $10? I'm definitely getting this. I still play the game a lot and this seems like a substantial piece of DLC to make an already great game even better.
I got VIP, so rude not to pick this up.
I don't usually play realistic racing games, but I saw this for $35 on Best Buy's website last night which, after my 20% off through GCU was only $28. So I bit.
Game is on the way now. I figure this is more open racing than the strict tracks like Forza 5 has, so it seems like a better starting place for someone such as myself. If I like it, I can always go full hardcore Forza with the new one.
@Captain_Chao5 What do you have to do to be considered VIP?
@JaxonH
You have to buy the $20 VIP Pass. You get these five cars - 2012 Lamborghini Urus, 2014 Tesla Model S, 1967 Ferrari 330 P4, 1949 Mercury Coupe, and the 2013 Donkervoort D8 GT - and random gifts like in-game currency and for wheelspins which you give $$$ the value gets doubled which helps with getting the awesome cars (and there are a ton of awesome ones in this game) a lot quicker.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you if you need to be a XBL Gold member to be able to take advantage of this. I wouldn't think so, but I've also never really looked into it because I've always had Gold.
@Gamer83
Hmmm... Not so much interested in the cars, but the DLC tracks/new areas might be of interest.
In comparison, the DLC for $20 (new cars, new map area, new events, new weather, new all kinds of crap) seems a much better bargain than spending that same $20 on the VIP pass, which doesn't seem to offer nearly as much.
Not sure how much I'll like this game but I'm a sucker for quality DLC, though I am reluctant to spend the extra coin sometimes considering how much I already spend on games. For example, that Far Cry 4 DLC looks good but for $30? Idk, that's a LOT. I only spent $38 on the game, brand new day 1. Know what I mean! $20 seems much more reasonable. Though there was a time even $20 seemed steep for DLC.
I've got the VIP membership and the car season pass... do I still have to pay for this or will it be free?
@stylon
$10 since you're a VIP. Pretty sure the car pass is strictly that.
@JaxonH
I'd definitely recommend playing the game first and seeing what you think of the races, the handling, really the way the game plays in general. Some people love open world racing games, others would rather a regular track racer. If you like what it has to offer I think the $20 for this DLC will be worth it, at least from the looks of it. Forza Horizon 1 had something similar with a huge Rally Expansion that was well done.
@Gamer83 - So much for the 'Ultimate Edition' then.... thought I'd be boxed off with all the DLC when I bought that
@stylon
Yeah, same here. I won't lie though, I'm still going to drop the $10. Half off is better than nothing and it does look like the developers put some real effort into this.
@Gamer83 Agreed, despite all my protestations - if this turns out to be good I'll end up getting it too. It'll still piss me off a bit to give them more money on top of the £72 they've already had off me though....
@JaxonH its more arcadey than you think. You willl love it
So... has anyone played this yet? If so what do you make of it... worth the money or just more of the same stuff already in the game?
