Hello there…

Well..,I just got a Series S after a long time away from just supporting the PS family of systems since the sour taste of my 360 elite dying on me. Was going to wait it out for a series X but just wanted to play Forza that badly…

One question, would you consider the Series S a step backwards from the PS4 Pro? I didn’t want a X One X (or what the lingo might be for it.) and not going to pay a scalper his ransom for a Series X. Did I make the wise choice here? Just really disappointed in the lack of a 4K dashboard on a brand new console but enjoy it otherwise.

For the most part, it is an upgrade. You still don't get the Xbox One X enhanced versions of games, so at least resolution wise it can be inferior to even the PS4 Pro on previous gen games, but it should be better overall otherwise.

If resolution, having a disc drive, and overall raw power is all important to you, I'd still suggest getting a Series X at some point. If backwards compatibility is important to you, obviously you'll be screwed if the game isn't available digitally like a handful of games are here and there. The Series X is a really good console, especially if you have a TV to take advantage of the jump in resolution. You could use the Series S as a backup or put it somewhere else in your house if you want another console in a bedroom or something.

Right, for backwards compatibility you miss the Xbox One X enhanced versions and, obviously, the Series S doesn't have a disc drive.

So far, really enjoying this little machine. It’s so quiet! Seeing the Matrix UE5 demo really push ahead of what was possible on PS4/XB1 after such a short time. I’m really curious how far the Series S can be pushed as I see it punching above it’s weight. Storage is a pain as expected.

Indeed I do plan on a Series X (when I can find one…) but for the time being, I have a lot of old 360 games to load up once again from XBL but where is OutRun? 🤷‍♂️
