February is finally here and that means we can start looking ahead at what's coming to Xbox this month, right? Persona 3 Reload drops today to kick off a pretty stacked month of gaming, and we have a fantastic-looking trip down memory lane to look forward to in just a few weeks here.

Yep, we're talking about Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered of course - and this release has extra significance for Xbox fans. While most of us over a certain age have probably dabbled with the original Tomb Raider games, this month's launch is the first time they'll be available on Xbox!

There's one caveat there in that Tomb Raider: Anniversary is an Xbox 360 remake of the first game - but the team did make changes with that one and it's a different beast to the original PS1 release. This upcoming remaster lets you play with either the original visuals/controls or updated versions too, so it's definitely the first time Xbox fans can experience Tomb Raider in its original form!

And then there's the next two games in the series - as the name suggests. This is the very first time that Tomb Raider 2 and Tomb Raider 3 will be available on Xbox in any form - and this is perhaps the most exciting part of the whole release. Well, aside from freezing the butler of course!

Now, if you've never played the original Tomb Raider games before you might be thinking 'well, what's so special about them?' and this is hard to pinpoint to be honest. Nostalgia definitely plays a huge part so if you don't have that attachment you might not be quite as into the idea of these remasters as us.

However, it's not all nostalgia. These games have a very specific atmosphere that's hard to describe - you really do feel like you're just out there as a lone adventurer tackling some scary stuff while finding treasures along the way. The newer, action-oriented TR games are great, but nothing since developer Core Design departed the franchise has quite captured the same feeling.

So, yeah, forgive us a little bit if we nerd out over these OG Tomb Raider games finally coming to Xbox this month. Luckily for us they're looking fantastic so far, and with the option to play with a modern control scheme, they'll hopefully play fantastically well too!
