As always, we're expecting a busy year for free-to-play games on Xbox, and there's some potentially great stuff on the way including Ubisoft's xDefiant and The Division: Heartland, along with the new football/soccer game UFL!
Below, we've picked out 10 free-to-play games that are expected to arrive on Xbox in 2024, although it's worth noting that many of the titles in last year's list ended up getting delayed in the end! Still, even if just some of the following games are released this year, they're bound to make a big impact with fans of free-to-play Xbox games.
Let's take a look at those 10 F2P games - including one that actually released on Xbox earlier this week!
Hawked (February 15, 2024)

XDefiant (February or March, 2024)

Off The Grid (Early 2024)

Path Of Exile 2 (2024 TBD)

Tom Clancy's The Division: Heartland (2024 TBD)

Looter shooters usually aren't my thing but something about The First Descendant looks really cool to me so I'll be checking it out.
I'll be taking a look at Blue Protocol as well, never heard of it until now but it looks like it could be really good and it's surprising since games like that almost always skip Xbox.
MultiVersus also (allegedly) coming back early this year.
If I had a bit more time for gaming I’d give Hawked a go.
Edit: looks like Hawked is offline until the 17th.
Edit2: looks like it was just a temporary outage with a fallback message. I gave Hawked a try. Not bad. Initial games feel a bit botty. And there’s a Hawked+ membership which seems a bit pay to win.
Best decision Xbox made the last 5 years was dropping the Live Gold/GP Core requirement for F2P games.
Definitely going to give Throne and Liberty a shot!

@ParsnipHero oh, yes, I know it’s a full price game with a cash shop, but it should have released a F2P title.
I can see myself losing a lot of time to Path of Exile 2.
They are adding so many new things to the genre with this release that PoE 2 will be the benchmark that others will aspire to, assuming it all works as advertised. (Diablo who?)
I'm looking forward to The Division: Heartland, Throne and Liberty and Off The Grid from those listed.

Hawked launched with like zero hype... I downloaded it but had never heard anything about it before, and I keep up on gaming news.
After playing it for a short amount of time... I don't think it will get me to keep coming back... but who knows, I'm gonna try n keep it in the rotation for a sec
