Alan Wake 2 Still Hasn't Made Profit Despite Huge Critical Success

Remedy's new investor call this week not only brought news on future projects like Max Payne, but also some fresh updates on already-released titles - including last year's Alan Wake 2. We have both good and bad news relating to Remedy's 2023 survival horror title, as the team gives us an update on how things are going.

We'll get the negative out of the way first; Alan Wake 2 still hasn't made any profit yet for the dev team. Remedy says that the game has "recouped a significant part of the development and marketing expenses" but not all of them so far, meaning it's still playing catch up in regards to making money for the company.

Right, onto the more positive news here; DLC development is well underway at Remedy "that will extend Alan Wake 2". We don't really have any other information on the team's DLC content just yet, other than it plans to release two expansions — Night Springs and Lake House — and that they're both part of a £15 / $20 'Digital Upgrade' pack. Hopefully we see these DLCs in action soon!

We're also hoping that over time, Alan Wake 2 will go on to be a commercial success as well as a critical one - it ended up being one of last year's highest-rated Xbox titles, and we happened to like it quite a lot as well!
