Lies of P is one of the most highly anticipated Xbox Game Pass releases of September 2023, and it's finally almost here! The hard-as-nails soulslike arrives on the service at launch on Tuesday, September 19th.

Ahead of that date, the reviews have been going live across the web today, including here at Pure Xbox where we gave the game a "Great" 8/10 score! You can read up on the full review elsewhere on PX:

But what has everyone else been saying about Lies of P so far? We've rounded up a few impressions about the new Xbox Game Pass title from various outlets which you can read below. Let's take a look!

Windows Central (5/5)

"I was already a fan of Lies of P when I played the preview build, but when I played the full game and reached the end credits, I was completely enamored."

Game Informer (9.5/10)

"I struggled to pull myself away from Lies of P, even when it had me fuming. It delicately balances the fun of a Soulslike with the challenge the genre demands and only falters a few times."

Pure Xbox (8/10)

"This dystopian tale of Pinocchio does a lot to stand on its own two feet, but when you strip all the set dressing away, it is simply a terrific love letter to Bloodborne. It is rough around the edges with some balancing issues and environment clipping causing you to get stuck in corners too easily, but with enough persistence (and skill), Lies of P is one of the best non-FromSoftware soulslikes yet."

IGN (8/10)

"Lies of P might not branch out particularly far from its soulslike inspiration, but like a marionette controlled by a skilled puppet master, it plays the part extremely well in a wonderfully dark fantasy world."

Push Square (8/10)

"Lies of P feels like the result of a developer having already taken multiple stabs at the Souls-like genre, so it's impressive that Round8 Studio has accomplished so much on its first attempt. By fully embracing its dark take on the Pinocchio story, it sets itself apart from anything else available. Elevating it above other games are quality combat and extensive, satisfying customisation, turning Lies of P into a first-class experience for FromSoftware fanatics."

Stuff (3/5)

"A dark intriguing twist on Pinocchio and haunting visuals doesn’t stop this soulslike from being too frustratingly difficult and derivative for its own good."

VG247 (2/5)

"I was never impressed by it, and I never stopped questioning the point of the entire endeavour throughout my time with it."

As you can see, the vast majority of reviews have been very positive so far, but there are a few who have questioned the "frustrating" difficulty in particular. For what it's worth, most of the scores have been around the 8/10 mark so far, and it seems as though Lies of P will settle around the 80-85 mark on Metacritic when all the reviews are in.
