Gamescom 2014: Quantum Break First Gameplay Demo Will Stop You Dead in Your Tracks

Time-bending action thriller impresses at Gamescom

Remedy Entertainment wasn't kidding when they said a week ago that we'll get our first look at gameplay for Quantum Break at Gamescom — and wow, does it look impressive.

Creative Director Sam Lake presented the new footage during Microsoft's Gamescom presser, where we were treated to main character Jack Joyce (who looks an awful lot like Phil Spencer) and his unique special abilities. Due to some incident, Jack has limited control over time. The demonstration showed Jack using his ability to freeze enemies before knocking them out with a mean punch or firing a bullet to the brain. Jack can also flee or evade enemy fire with a dash ability that would make even The Flash feel jealous.

The ending of the footage proves the most effective as we see time completely stop around our hero during an intense car crash. Jack can walk about the destruction unharmed, taking in his surroundings as if he's part of The Matrix.

It's all shaping up to be one of Xbox One's major exclusives for 2015 and one of our most anticipated games. Remedy still hasn't locked in a release date and no mention was made to the live-action television series supposedly launching with the game.

Oh man I love Remedy. This is the game I decided to get an Xbox One for, my only disappointment is the continuing lack of a release date. Maybe at the next big event it's shown at.

I just got linked here via your Top 5 Most Wanted Games of 2015 article and... well I can see why Quantum Break was so high up on your list. I've already got quite a few games I'm looking forward to next year, spread out over Wii U, 3DS, and Xbox One, yet it looks like I might just be adding yet another game to my own list of wanted games for 2015.
