Xbox One Release Date Confirmed
Posted by Ken Barnes
At last, Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One will release on November 22nd, 2013 in the UK, Eire, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia and of course, to the awesome people of New Zealand.
The somewhat subtle announcement came via the company's various Facebook and Twitter pages this afternoon. The system will be launching one week after Sony's PlayStation 4 in the US (released November 15th) but crucially, one week BEFORE the PS4 in Europe (released November 29th.) You could have put money on it really, given that November 22nd, 2005 was the day that the Xbox 360 was launched.
However, this appears to be a direct attempt to split Sony's release dates, probably with an eye on derailing their worldwide marketing, rather than anything else. In Europe, preorders are reported to be up by some 200% since Gamescom, so the focus on beating PS4 to market here may well be a wise move designed to push the point home.
Remember, if you're interested in an Xbox One on launch day, you should probably preorder it as soon as you can. In Europe, Day One edition bundles come with FIFA 14 as a free pack-in game.
