Microsoft to Unveil 720 in April?

Posted by Ken Barnes

The rumours grow...

This one has been on the cards for a while, it has to be said, but it appears that there's a growing belief in the industry this morning, that Microsoft will reveal the Xbox 720 in April, at a special one-off event.

CVG is reporting that a number of developers and professionals - some of whom are Sony employees - are expecting Microsoft to show off the machine well before E3 2013 kicks off in June.

Of course, we'll bring you the details as soon as anything concrete is forthcoming. With any luck, Microsoft will have learned that whilst Toby Maguire and Brandon Flowers are perfectly nice chaps, they aren't what you want to see when you're looking for details of a new games machine. Unless their careers take a massive drop-off and they end up working behind the counter at Gamestop, that is.

lol yay, Toby Macguire is definitely not a way to sell a system.

Hopefully they show something to make themselves relevant compared to Sony and Nintendo, kinda hard to imagine another Halo will be released this fast, maybe Fable? Anyways, they really need a killer game to compare to what Sony showed.

I'm pretty sure Halo and Fable will miss the cut. I wouldn't be unhappy about that - would be good for Microsoft to get something new going.

As long as Halo and Forza exist, Xbox will be relevant. Halo is my favorite franchise so I'm a bit biased but I'm looking more forward to Halo 5 & 6 than I am the next Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart or whatever else Nintendo has to offer. And Forza crushes any other racing series including Gran Turismo. I like the PlayStation brand best overall (just slightly more than Xbox) but those two exclusives, and Xbox Live, will make sure MS continues to have a strong fanbase at least in North America and the UK. With NA being the biggest market right now, don't under estimate the importance of a system being the top dog there.
