Topic: Looking for assistance using PC as monitor for Xbox 1

Previously I have used my PC (which is an All in One type - effectively a high end laptop) as a monitor for XBox by using Xbox Console Companion. But it now appears this option will be soon off the table as Microsoft has announced their intention to deactivate services associated with Console Companion from the end of this month. As this app requires me to authenticate myself back to MS servers it will presumably not work even if the client app is still resident on my PC. And the newer xbox app does not support this kind of function (streaming to PC) so far as I am aware. Which leaves me in a hole.

So as a trial I have bought a cheap external video capture card (HDMI to USB) because my PC does not have a suitable incoming HDMI port. But here's the thing! Even if everything is installed and the Xbox is streaming to the video capture card (instead of, say, to a TV or other monitor), I presume I need some kind of software on my PC to actually recognize the incoming signal and to display it on my PC's screen. I have no intention of streaming live to the internet nor recording the content - I only want to use my PC's monitor to display the video and audio while I am playing.

My question how do I do this. Do I need OBS Studio (which I know many use to record the xbox output or stream it to the internet)? Or do I need something else? Nothing I have read anywhere tells me this. I am sure its obvious to others here who have already done it. Thanks in advance
