Topic: DESTINY 17gb update

Hey all, Here i was think-in to myself play wee game of destiny just to be hit with 17gb update. So wee head up to let people know this update will take hours to be done at the speed it download for some reason. Am on 100mb and only 2% done in 30mins.

That sounds like a monster so I hope my connection will take it. The size is surprising but then again they have to lay the groundwork for The Taken King. This includes the stuff that's coming for those not taking up the DLC - changes to missions, updated tower system, nerfed exotics...Nolan North. Plus they have to allow the seemless integration of the base game and The Taken King so that Hunters with Nightstalker don't warp into the cosmodrome and break everybodys game simultaneously.

Mine was 85% done this morning when I left, so I hope to be playing tonight. Des, Silver: Papa needs some Etheric light!

So, I must've configured my xbone properly as when went on, it just loaded up, no messing. Haven't played this in a loonnnnggggg time. Is is still a grind? I've 3 chars, lvl 29-28-27. I gave up at the point where you needed to do raids with friends as there's never anyone on I know when I'm on. Is this still the case, no random raids? If so, it's back in its box.

@sorethumbed while it's true there is no matchmaking for the Raid we still have an active Raid team here at pX. Even better we can fit around your schedule, you tell us when you want to run a Raid and we can get you sorted. It's a shame as there's a tonne of extra content blocked off if you have nobody to in your fireteam. What are you doing this weekend? I'm sure we can run a Vault of Glass

Anytime daytime (UK) at the weekend is good for me. If you would like to hit it just message me if you see me on. I'm generally on Ad Max or ESO ATM but a change is as good as a rest.

So, I went on and ran two of my guardians up to lvl34 and one to 32. There is even less to do now if you are not in a fire team than there used to be. For the life of me, I fail to understand the logic behind the lack of a matchmaking lobby, it can't possible be any harder than a 12 player trial in ESO and that's doable with randoms.

Got my first piece of Level 40 armour last night!

Yup, sunsinger Warlock. The voidwalker is ridiculous, I have to generate 7 orbs of light, using the super, 3 times in one raid. Me and silver were trying last night and theres not anywhere in a raid that enough enemies gather for that!

@Red620Ti: I did that in the Nightfall (or the Heroic I think). It requires around 2 majors and at least 1 other to get it. The Nightfall this week at least has a Void Burn to make it easier but both that and the Striker Titan (also requires you to get 7 orbs of light x3 in one Raid) were the most difficult of all the challenges.

Well, 2 x lvl 37 and 1 x lvl 36 characters..........

Also got given a set of grren arms that had better defence than my maxed Ruin Wings!

And a new exotic Auto rifle, Monte Carlo? Liking it so far! New black shader....

I got the Monte Carlo too. There seems to be a lot more 'story' so far...

I also have the yr1 bonuses and that Shader is cool! I also have the Collectors edition content so I can level up my sub classes quickly but disappointed the stats are poor. Still be ok for yr1 content and the new moves are better than 'point' - the shaders are nice - at least the Nightstalker one is anyway...

I got a lvl 40 pistol and hat. Black shader is nice. So far picked up loads of green armor on each of my characters that wees all over the orange stuff I had previously. Round about lvl37-38 on all 3 of my characters. Hopedpfully, tomorrow, I can get all three to the 40ish mark then hit the strikes next week as going away for a few days on Saturday. 😒

Weapons purchased from XUR are only lvl 20. When it says legacy.... iT means it!

Yup, I only bought one. Its rumoured that hes selling the engrams to help you get any exotics you missed, which was borne out by me getting Super Good Advice, which I never had before.

"Lastly, Xûr will also choose a Legacy Engram every week. These Engrams contain Year One Exotics (at Year One Attack and Defense levels) for players who want to finish up a Collection. They strongly bias towards Exotics not already in your Blueprint Collection, to help fill in the blank slots - excluding Mythoclast and Necrochasm, which are still only available from their Year One sources."

The armour you can buy from him is 280 defence, so Year 2 level. Also the 3 of coins consumable he sells increases the chances of exotic engrams dropping from bosses, so probably worth getting some of those!

I think the Legacy Engrams are very over-priced - 31 Strange Coins just for the 'collection' - although they are still 'good' for yr1 content, I doubt many will actually use them!

Using the 3 of Coins in the shield Bothers strike on Heroic, I managed to get Telesto (a beast of a Fusion Rifle) and the Four Horsemen (not a great shotgun...)

I plan to hit the strike playlist hard tonight, try and get my light up to Raid levels.

What changes have been made to Destiny with these updates? I was burned when it came out at launch, and sold it back for full price (💲💲💲). As much as I hate how Bungie has handled everything, I might be willing to try it again if the game has completely changed for the better...

I'd say Destiny now is the game it should have been at launch. Really loving the changes.
