I'm glad Nintendo stuck with the 3DS and an improved version rather than rushing a new "4DS". This is essentially the 3DSi, with improvements that someone like me who owns nearly the entire catalogue have been waiting for. The one aspect that really caught my eye is the "improved 3D"... The 3DS has some ghosting issues when you crank it up and if they've solved those... I'm sold!

Think of the DS vs DSi, there will be 3DS.5 exclusive games, likely available mostly on the e-shop. 3DS games WILL be the mainstay until a completely new handheld is released, the base numbers almost demand that blockbusters not be exclusive to this more powerful big brother.

@HEADESTROYER4, you do bring up a good point, the 3DS isn't going anywhere. heck ill probably upgrade down the road as well. and going forward i can see nintendo have dual analog sticks as standard for there next portable device.

The next rumours is that nintendo is creating a 2in1 device, you can take it with you and use it like a 3DS. then you take it home and plug it into its docking cradle and use a wireless controller to play the same games but now with internet connection and bigger screen.  Now if this all is one has the power of a ps4/xbox one it will do well as you won't be needing to purchase the same games on different devices.

@Emanouel What we KNOW is that Nintendo plans on staying the course in regards to hardware, they intend to release novel products and I'm sure the next-gen console you've detailed... a handheld yet fully capable console, or some other crazy thing is in works. Will we see it in the next 2 years? Likely not given sales of the 3DS mainly, for Ninty to "combine" their highly lucrative handhelds with their struggling home console would be a risky move! Give us a 3DS with HDMI and we may all never buy another console!

@HEADESTROYER4, Honestly a hybrid console / handheld would be a amazing invention.  If Nintendo can use a Micro SD with up to 128GB of data per cartridge we will all be better off instead of what we now have to install any game on your next ten consoles before playing them.

Sony had this issue with UMD disc load times and battery consumption issues. Id be all for a console handheld that you only needed to purchase the game once, sony tried this but they didn't fully support it across all games.

The 3DS is there top seller and they won't phase that out for a few more years. Im really happy about the 2nd analog C stick on the NEW 3DS, I'm just wondering how i would transfer my game saves and digital games to the new device as its now using micro SD not SD.

Maybe even microsoft will come out with a surface gaming handheld with buttons instead of a virtual buttons.
