EA CEO 'Couldn't Be More Excited' About What The Team Is Making With Battlefield

Battlefield 2042 development recently wrapped up over at EA and DICE, so naturally, murmurings about the next instalment in this famous FPS franchise are starting to appear. This week, EA CEO Andrew Wilson has been hyping up the next game in the company's latest financial report (thanks, Eurogamer), adding that he "couldn't be more excited" about the upcoming title.

At EA's HQ, Wilson and co. have put together the "largest Battlefield team in franchise history" to help craft the Battlefield 2042 follow-up, with this next entry said to include both single and multiplayer elements. Here's a bit more of what Wilson had to say about all of the teams working on Battlefield:

"Motive, armed with cutting-edge Frostbite technology and compelling storytelling, is joining DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect to build a Battlefield universe across connected multiplayer and single-player experiences. This is the largest Battlefield team in franchise history."

We learnt about EA Motive's involvement in the project about a month ago, when the directors on Dead Space Remake announced that they were moving on to work on Battlefield. Given Wilson's fresh comments on the team's "compelling storytelling", we'd assume Motive is leading the single-player charge after Ridgeline Games' unfortunate closure earlier this year.

As for what else we can expect from the next Battlefield, most of that info is under wraps right now. We did hear just a couple of months ago that the game may contain a battle royale mode, but that's just a rumour at this stage - and we'd wait for official confirmation coming out of EA before taking that one to the bank.
