We've been really lucky this year with games, and it's cool to see so many different choices in everyone's top five.
For me -
CP2077 Phantom Liberty: Delivered on the game's initial promise in phenomenal fashion.
Alan Wake 2: Remedy's masterpiece. Atmospheric, inventive and really fun to play (though those jumpscares were created by Satan himself).
HiFi Rush: Unexpected GOTY contender from Tango Gameworks. Left me with a big grin on my face.
Like A Dragon Gaiden: the Man Who Erased His Own Name: Every time I think I'm burnt out on the Like A Dragon series, they pull me back in. Stoked for Infinite Wealth now.
Warhammer 40k Darktide: Incredible world, stupidly fun and a great co-op experience.
I have a few weeks off now so excited to play Lies of P, Jusant, Cocoon and Sea of Stars (time-permitting!). Hope you all find the time to tick a few off your backlog, too.
It's an A from me – I'm not sure if it's because I've not seen much from the other showcases, but this one really got me excited for the year(s) ahead for Xbox.
The new Atlus IP looks great (bummed I saw the Persona 3 Remake leak because that would've been the highlight for me!) and stoked on Fable, Hellblade 2, Avowed, Kunitsu-Gami + Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Was lukewarm on Starfield but the showcase totally won me over – and now I can't wait to play it. Would've loved some story detail but know I'm going to happily lose a big chunk of time to it.
Still waiting on some info from someone, anyone, on that Dragon Quest 3 remake!
I never thought a 100hr+ game would fly by... but in Persona 5 Royal's case, it did. Now, it's one of my favourite games of all time! Really excited to play it again.
I get that it's not for everyone but well worth a play if you have even a passing interest in JRPGs or games with a strong narrative.
I'm sure someone says this every time it's put on sale... but Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is well worth your £3-£5! It's a wonderful game and has the added bonus of running at 60fps on Series S/X.
