Earlier this month, Samson: A Tyndalston Story was announced for consoles and pointed towards a September 21st release to coincide with a big PC update.
Now, the developers have shared a 37-minute deep dive video showcasing all of the quality of life fixes and new features that are on the way. Sadly, the gameplay was captured on PC, but the devs did post that they're hard at work with their Xbox dev kits to get Samson ready for launch later this month.
In the video, Liquid Swords gameplay designers Donald Young and Tommy Rydling get stuck into new cosmetics, takedown driving, general fisticuffs, and a bunch more.
At launch, Samson received it's fair share of criticism, but it genuinely seems like the developers care about making the game a much better experience for all. As part of the upcoming PC update and console launch, Young and Rydling talked about the new features and changes to expect.
Here's a general gist of what they covered:
- Players can now unlock new jackets for Samson. There are six in total, with five earned through levelling and skill point unlocks.
- Combat indicators will help visualise melee combat, with yellow and red flashes better communicating what type of attack is coming your way.
- Takedown visualisation: 'Weak spot' shaders will now appear on cars to indicate damage levels and help inform players on where to strike enemy vehicles. Mission tuning has also been adjusted to help negate annoying failure states.
- Dynamic events and debt collectors can now spawn throughout the city, adding more variety to daily activities.
- Tutorials have been updated with clearer text and imagery.
- Debris boards have been refined, providing more significant nitrous refills and vehicle repairs.
- Action points are easier to unlock.
As of writing, there's still no official way to wishlist the game on Xbox consoles just yet, but you will likely need to cough up £20.99 / $24.99 to bag this one. If this looks like your jam and you fancy giving it a go for yourself, then it's best keep an eye on the Xbox Store on September 21st.
