by It's no secret that we're big fans of the ROG Xbox Ally X here at PX HQ, although we're now slightly salty that our standard black unit doesn't look this bloody good.
Shared by the folks over at ASUS, the "master craftsman" known as AK Mod has created a "one-of-a-kind" ROG Xbox Ally unit based on the ever-popular Cyberpunk 2077. You can catch a glimpse of this beauty in the video up above, or in these images down below:
"One glance tells you this ROG Xbox Ally X didn’t roll off a factory line. Master craftsman AK Mod combined layered spray paints, specialized weathering techniques, and custom water decals to make both the device and its pedestal feel like they were pulled straight out of Night City. Sand and salt were applied in targeted areas to produce organic wear, making the final product feel natural, imperfect, and definitely dystopian.
Every scratch, scuff, and trace of patina was intentional. The bold yellow neon finish wrapping the ROG Xbox Ally X will feel instantly familiar to anyone who’s cruised Night City after dark, while subtle nods to Johnny Silverhand’s guitar are worked into the base for fans paying close attention. The result is functional art, where ROG’s aggressive design language meets the brutal beauty of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Hats off to AK Mod — this project pushes customization into another league.
As hinted at by the quote above about this being a highly-custom unit, you can't go out and buy this thing unfortunately, with "only three in existence" right now. Okay, so, it's not quite one-of-a-kind then - but it's still "impossibly rare" according to the folks over at ASUS.
Anyway, we just thought we'd share this as we haven't seen any special edition ROG Xbox Ally units before - and now we hope this leads to some sort of custom console that folks could actually go out and buy. If that happened, maybe some more of us at Pure Xbox would be tempted to pick up an Xbox Ally for on-the-go gaming.
