Believe it or not, it's been almost a year since DOOM: The Dark Ages released on Xbox Game Pass, and prior to launch, Bethesda and id Software promised a campaign expansion for sometime after release. While that add-on hasn't been revealed yet, it's definitely in development, and it sounds like it's going to a substantial DLC when it eventually comes out.
Speaking on a recent Slayers Club livestream (via GamesRadar), DOOM: The Dark Ages director Hugo Martin talked about the gap from main game launch to this upcoming DLC, and how the expansion is "massive" and "like a sequel" to The Dark Ages in a lot of ways.
Here's a longer quote on that:
"It's massive [...] Look, guys, I know that it's been ultimately a while since we shipped the main game and you're waiting for the DLC, but just know that it's freaking huge. It's basically like a sequel. I mean, that's what it feels like, it's just ginormous."
In addition to what feels like a DLC that's quite large in scope, Martin also mentioned that the expansion is "nothing like" the main Dark Ages campaign; hinting that the team will be heading in a fairly different direction with its upcoming add-on. We're excited to see it in action!
Unfortunately, we don't have any more release timings on it just yet, but with how open Martin has been here, we're hoping that its reveal is coming ASAP. Oh, and if you decided to snag that DOOM: The Dark Ages Premium Upgrade when we covered its massive discount last month, your purchase will hopefully come good pretty soon!
